Time passed quickly since I stepped into the role of Country Manager, Afimilk New Zealand, some 10 months ago. In conjunction with the team at headquarters, we made some very positive progress in what reality is a rebirth of the Afimilk brand. Essentially, in many ways a new market for Afimilk, here in a remote part of the world of New Zealand. We established a New Zealand business entity, created a new supply chain, identified and established new dealers, completed 6 new AfiCollar installations, and transitioned 3 previous Silent Herdsman customers to our AfiCollar product.

We have one new shed with a completion date at the end of 2021 and another opportunity for 2022 we are working on. (In New Zealand we call them cow sheds as opposed to milking parlors!)

The team grew from a base of one, to now, 4 full-time staff and we’re looking to expand again over these next few months.

The New Zealand market is buzzing with regards to cow monitoring. Most farmers are well aware of what cow monitoring is and how it can positively impact their farms. This comes with a lot of competitive pressure with around 10 competitors in the New Zealand market. The prize is relatively significant with a total of 4.9M milking cows in New Zealand.

We were privileged to enjoy the company of Amir and Amnon with us over the past 4 months. They were amazing resources that benefited our market and team. We are all grateful as they helped us speed up the progress of the New Zealand market. Thank you both very much for the personal sacrifices you made in being with us. On top of this, the benefit of having the market specific knowledge gained by Amir and Amnon present in head office will be immense moving forward.

It’s a relatively small team as shown here at the recent National New Zealand Fieldays.

Javier Cuellar – Technical Specialist, Amir, Grant Williams – Sales and Bus. Development Mgr., Amnon, John Stubbs – Country Manager, Bernadine van den Berg – Application Support.

With market establishment comes the need to make every endeavor count. It’s all hands-on deck with the Country Manager collaring cows on Holeshot farm, the first AfiCollar installation in New Zealand.

Everyone in the New Zealand team was hands-on collaring cows in our establishment of AfiCollar in New Zealand. It’s an important link in gaining rapport with our first customers. We’re looking forward to continued growth in our market!
