Meet our new VP R&D, Nir Oppenheim.

1.What is your favorite project at Afimilk to date?

It is hard to pick a favorite – they are all my babies…If I had to choose one, it would have to be AfiFarm5.

The AfiFarm5 project  designed and developed the new generation of Afimilk’s System, focusing on replacing our entire RT infrastructure and establishing a reliable platform for future development and supporting large scale farms.

It wasan extremely challenging project, shared by a very large team across almost all the departments at Afimilk.

The project had everything: very diverse, large scale, tight timeline, called for tons of creativity, required pioneering, and much more.

Above all, it was the commitment and dedication of the team, which made this project so memorable: we felt the sanctity of building a temple.

2.What is your favorite travel spot?

Nothing beats Tuscany in the spring.

3.If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

I would love to go out hiking for a week with Bob Dylan, but with his version from the seventies, not the douche he is today…

4.What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Allow yourself to be “All In”! Afimilk is a company that deserves & rewards that attitude.

5.What does a typical day look like for you?

A good day would have at least one significant design review and an interesting brainstorming session for a challenge we are trying to solve.

The rest is coordinating R&D’s many activities, setting priorities, handling war rooms of crises, taking many decisions and if there is some time left by the end of the day – planning the future.

6.What does true leadership mean to you?

A true leader builds the confidence of everyone around to follow and excel.

Out of the many (many!) things it really means, setting an example would have to be a must feature in a leader.

7.What do you like to do in your spare time?

I try to spend as much time as possible with my family. As much as my job allows me, I try to enjoy paddling with my surf-ski Kayak in the lake.

8.What do you like most about your job?

The privilege of working with some of the most gifted people I’ve ever met. In addition, I cannot think of one dull moment I had in the last 10 years.

9.What is your favorite movie and book?

Movie: Fight Club

Book: Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

10.Do you have an office nickname?

After so many years in Afimilk, I can only guess I do, but no one has shared it with me.
